Canada has an extremely strong reputation for welcoming newcomers. Whether as international students, working professionals and entrepreneurs, family members of Canadians or indeed as refugees.

Indeed, it is the world’s leading settler of refugees even more than the USA which has about 9 times as many people as Canada.

The key to Canadian success is the support of Canadian society in offering high quality education and health care and other social “safety nets”, as well strong respect for human rights, that make the likelihood of people thriving very high.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada and The Globe and Mail newspaper features a family that came as refugees from Syria only 4 years ago. Only three days after arrival they started experimenting with growing vegetables. Now they are managing a growing business in growing food and even able to make large donations of food to people in need.
